If you hear loud squealing sounds without any vibration, brakes work less efficiently and you can’t remember when the last time you serviced the brakes was it is definitely the right time to change the brake pads. This sound occurs because the manufacturers of these pads have designed them in a way to warn the driver that it is time for replacement. Do not wait too long to replace them. The sound will only increase over time and the pads will be worn to the end. The brakes will overheat because of that and they will respond weaker to the pressure of the pedals until they finally stop working completely.

If you feel vibrations while stopping your car it is time to replace the brake discs. If you are noticing burning smell, vibrations or smoke coming out from the wheels you need to react fast. Drive the car for a while and then lay your hand on the wheel – if it is warm that’s fine but if it is very hot then you should definitely consult with your mechanic.

Unlike pads and discs, which are replaced in pairs, clips don’t need to be changed in this way. If some of them is not working properly it is okay to replace only that clip. You can even try to delay the replacement of the clip if you clean it and lube it in the right way.

If you have checked all these things and everything looks fine but the driving pedal is not responding in the right way the only other area that you should check is the hydraulic system. Oil is the mediator between the brake pedal and the brake pads. This unique system consists of a cylinder located near the pedal, the brake fluid container and pipe system. Take a look at the brake fluid level in the vessel. If the level is between minimum and maximum level then the problem is elsewhere. If the level is below normal there is an oil leak somewhere. You need to find traces of oil or rust on the pipes, especially around seals and rubbers. Check whether there is oil in the master cylinder or under the car.
