Catalytic Convertors

catalyticonverter Since 1975, when Catalytic converters were introduced they have been mandatory on all vehicles driven in United States.

The automobile engines create bad emissions for the environment. To reduce pollution, catalytic converter where invented. The convertor’s job is to change harmful gases into ‘not so harm’ ones. So you can see why it’s so important—to everyone—that your catalytic converter is working properly.

The catalytic converter can be found in the exhaust system, between the muffler and the exhaust manifold. Harmful gases like oxides of nitrogen, the more known carbon monoxide, and hydrocarbons pass thru the converter. Those gases go thru chemical reaction in the catalytic convertor and change into less harmful emissions like nitrogen, carbon dioxide and water.

In most cases, when there is a problem with the catalytic convertor operation, the “Check Engine” or “Service Engine Soon” light will appear on your dashboard (these lights are Orange in color).
